FAQ

Questions, answered

About us, paying in cedis, the SEVIS fee itself and what happens after we pay.

About us

Are you the US government?

No. PayMySEVIS is an independent service in Ghana, not affiliated with the U.S. Government, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or SEVP. We pay your I-901 SEVIS fee with your own coupon at a Western Union outlet. Western Union Quick Pay is one of the official ways to pay the fee, and ICE allows any person or organisation to pay it on a student's behalf.

How do I know you are real?

See our proof page (real chats and Western Union receipts) and reviews from clients. The live board on our home page shows recent payments. Most importantly, you never have to trust our word alone: once we pay, check your payment yourself on fmjfee.com under "Check I-901 Status".

Why pay through you instead of doing it myself?

You pay in cedis from MoMo or your bank, without a dollar card and without a trip to a Western Union outlet. We text you at every step and keep your receipt in your account. If you prefer to pay yourself, our guide on ways to pay the SEVIS fee from Ghana explains every option.

Paying us

How do I pay you?

By MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AT Money or bank transfer, depending on what is available. After you choose your visa and package, the pay page shows the exact amount and the number or account to send it to.

How much will I pay in total?

One price in cedis for your visa and package. It covers the official SEVIS fee, the Western Union fee, our fee and the bank conversion fee, with nothing added at the end (filling in the form for you is GH₵ 50.00 extra). See every price on our home page.

How long does it take?

It depends on the speed you choose. Regular: 2–3 days. Express: within 24 hours. The clock starts once we have confirmed your payment on our statement, and we text you when your receipt is ready.

What if I send the wrong amount?

We check every payment against our own MoMo or bank statement before paying your fee. If something does not match, we contact you to sort it out before going ahead.

What do you need from me?

Your coupon (the PDF or a screenshot) and the transaction ID of your payment. A screenshot of the payment helps but is optional. No coupon? Then type in a few details from your I-20 or DS-2019 (SEVIS ID, name, date of birth, school code) and your home address, and we fill in the form for you.

Can you fill in the SEVIS form for me?

Yes. On the pay page, choose "No, fill it in for me" and type in the details it asks for from your I-20 (or DS-2019). We fill in Form I-901 on fmjfee.com from them and generate your coupon, then pay it at Western Union. Only our team sees your documents, and we delete them 30 days after your fee is paid.

The SEVIS fee

How much is the SEVIS fee?

F-1 Student: US$350; M-1 Student: US$350; J-1 Exchange Visitor (standard): US$220; J-1 Au Pair: US$35; J-1 Camp Counselor: US$35; J-1 Summer Work/Travel: US$35; J-1 Government-sponsored program: no fee. Spouses and children on F-2, M-2 or J-2 visas do not pay. See the full table in cedis in our SEVIS fee guide.

What is the SEVIS coupon and how do I get it?

Fill in Form I-901 on fmjfee.com with the details from your I-20 or DS-2019. At the payment step, choose Western Union Quick Pay and the site gives you a coupon with a coupon number. Save it as a PDF or screenshot. Our step-by-step guide shows how.

When should I pay it?

Before your visa interview. ICE says you can book the interview first, but you should allow at least three business days for the payment to be received and verified. We suggest paying at least a week before your interview.

I got admission from more than one school. Which I-20 do I use?

Use the I-20 or DS-2019 of the school or programme you will actually attend. The payment is tied to the SEVIS ID on that form.

My visa was denied. Do I pay the SEVIS fee again?

Not if you reapply for the same type of visa within 12 months of your first payment. If your new form has a different SEVIS ID, a fee transfer is needed. A denied visa does not get a refund. Read more in our visa denial guide.

After we pay

How do I get my receipt?

We text you and put the Western Union payment receipt in your account. Once the payment has posted, you can also print your official payment confirmation on fmjfee.com. Our guide shows how.

My school sent me a new I-20 with a different SEVIS ID. What now?

The SEVIS ID on your payment confirmation must match your latest I-20 or DS-2019. If it does not, ICE asks you to email fmjfee.sevis@ice.dhs.gov to confirm whether a new payment is needed.

Referrals

How does the referral reward work?

Share your link or code from your account. When a friend signs up with it and their first SEVIS fee is paid, GH₵ 50.00 is added to your balance.

How do I withdraw my referral money?

Request a withdrawal from your account to your MTN, Telecel or AT MoMo number (at least GH₵ 50.00). We send it and text you.
